The “Hirsch” is a family-run hotelon the Belgian border in the Eifel-Ardennes range of hills at whose centre lies the ‘Hohe Venn’ a moorland plateau between 450 and 700 m high. On the German side lies the old handweaving centre of Monschau surrounded by picturesque narrow valleys and rural villages with their distinctive house-high beech hedges to protect against the wind. You can visit the glass-blowing exhibition in Monschau or the summer bobsleigh run at Rohren. In Kalterherberg stands the ‘Eifeldom’ the Cathedral of the Eifel. The walking is easy to moderate.
